Background: It was small for a armored dinosaur, only about ten feet long, or the size of a medium cow. It lived during the Early Cretaceous, 110 ten million years ago. Animantarxramaljonesi ( Living fortress ) was discovered in a remote area of Emery County, Utah by a retired Utah radiological technician named Ramal Jones in 1994. Mr. Jones found the fossil remains of Animantarx using a mobile radiation detector that he designed and built. The device could pick out the slight radiation emissions from fossilized bone, while the fossil material was still buried in the ground. Animantarx is the first dinosaur discovered solely by technology. Many additional fossils have since been found with this device. Because of his efforts, Animantarx was named in Ramal Jones's honor. This sculpture represents the latest information on the appearance of this amazing dinosaur, and won Best of show, creative Arts, at the 2004 Utah State Fair.
