Biography

I have worked as a professional artist specializing in sculpting extinct animals for two decades. My studio designed and sculpted the original bas reliefs of Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Camerasaurus Lentus, that now reside on the East and South sides of the North American Museum of Ancient Life in Lehi, Utah. My name is on brass plaques underneath both reliefs. I also sculpted fifteen species of full sized 18 inch to 6 foot Triassic and Jurassic pterosaurs for the same museum. They have been cast in the dozens, and are now hanging from the museum's ceilings. Two of my bronzes are included in the paleontological art volume; " Dinosaur Imagery, The Lanzendorf Collection", Published by University Press, 2000. They are now on permanent display with the rest of John Lanzendorf's collection, at the Childrens Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In the Winter of 2001, I completed a large seven sculpture assignment from the Discovery Channel for their "When Dinosaurs Roamed America" documentary, that premiered in July, 2001. The seven animals sculpted include: Triceratops, Torosaurus, Einosaurus, Centrosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Zuniceratops, and the gigantic pterosaur Quetzalcoatlus Northropi. All were rendered from 1/5th to 1/10th scale. My sculptures where also part of the 2004 “Dinosaur Planet" documentary, for the same network.  I completed a large commission for the College of Eastern Utah Prehistoric Museum in Price, Utah, in Early 2002. I sculpted and painted nine 1/10th scale dinosaurs. Eolambia caroljonesi,Utahraptor ostrommaysorum, Gastonia burgei, Animantarx ramaljonesi, Nedcolbertia, unnamed iguanodont, unnamed super nodosaur, unnamed brachiosaur, and Cedarpelta bilbeyhallorum. All were rendered to the specific instructions of the paleontologists who discovered and named them.  These sculptures are being used for educational purposes also. Copies of the nine dinosaurs travel extensively in a lecture circuit to public schools in Utah and Colorado, to teach children about natural history.
In February, 2003, I completed a year-long commission as the Art and Exhibit Director for the Dinosaur Walk Museum, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. My duties included choosing and hiring the different exhibit contributors, quality control, and exhibit design . I also sculpted five sets of 24 full sized pterosaurs for the same museum franchise.

In 2004 I finished two small full scale feathered dinosaurs for the Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah. I have completed a full sized 22 foot Pteranodon Ingens sculpture for the Dinosaur Walk museum in Long Island, New York. I also sculpted four full scale Velociraptors for The Eccles Dinosaur Park, Utah and The Natures Walk, Connecticut, respectively. I have had my artwork showing in different Fine Art Galleries, and have won "Best of Show, Professional" in the Creative Arts category at the Utah State Fair, four years running. I was asked by the Utah Counsel for the Arts to return as the Working Artist at the Utah State Fair in 2006, for the fifth time in six years.

I am currently working on various private and museum sculpting and illustration commissions. In October, 2005, I was commissioned to sculpt a full sized bronze monument of Dilophosaurus wetherilli for the Saint George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm. In September, 2006, I completed a full scale Hagryphus giganteus dinosaur for the Elizebeth DeShaw museum’s feathered dinosaur exhibit. In November, 2008 I completed a full sized fiberglass resin 11 foot tall Arctodus simus; the giant prehistoric short faced bear, for the Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah. I have recently moved into rendering modern wildlife, Native American, and historical sculptures in bronze. I am now accepting new paleontological and modern wildlife related commissions .
